A WOMAN almost ran down a police officer while twice trying to evade capture in Melbourne's inner south this morning.
Police tried to get the 63-year-old Honda driver to pull over about 10am after they discovered she was driving without a licence.
She stopped momentarily on Punt Rd, South Yarra, before speeding away, forcing one officer to leap out of the way to avoid being hit.
When police caught her on Toorak Rd, she tried to drive off again with an officer’s arm inside, trying to remove the keys from her ignition.
Police pulled the Cheltenham woman from the car and arrested her.
She was charged with a number of offences, including conduct endangering life and driving without a license.
Her station wagon was impounded for 30 days.
